Book Of The Month :: Khums and Other Islamic Acts

This short book is great to have in every household purely because it details many Islamic Acts and explains them in an extremely simple way which is ideal for not only grown adults but even children. This small 60-page book presents rulings on various Islamic Shariahs including Salat, Hajj, Fiqh in general, Taqleed and Khums.

For a Muslim who has limited knowledge of some of these Acts, this book details in basic language different and the most common issues that arise in everyday life and attempts to explain them.

Primarily focusing on Khums, the book tackles many questions relating to Khums including who and when to give, how to give, how to calculate, on which items to give and even questions regarding Khums on loan, superannuation and deposits. It gives short and concise answers to these questions and many others in simple terms and complements the answers by giving examples on the more complex issues to enhance their understanding. Moreover, it also distinguishes between different Marja’s fatwas (rulings) where necessary.

After Khums, the book then moves on to fiqh and talks about its importance and different masaails including inheritance, taqleed, Izn (permission), Salat and food and drink laws once again maintaining its simplicity and giving examples where required.

The book concludes with laws and rulings regarding Hajj and answers various questions including eligibility; taking loan and going; and khums and zakat relating to Hajj.

This book is targeted towards all Shia Muslims and explains some of the most common and complex fiqh issues in simple language which is its best feature. Every question is also listed in the contenst page and so can be easily navigated when required. It is great for questions that arise daily.

The book is compiled by Maulana Sadiq Hasan through his various lectures he gave on fiqh at Panjtan Society of Victoria and the Vakil is Ayatollah Al Uzma Syed Ali Al Hussaini Seestani.
